C. Adele Creations is the creation of Carla A. Robertson, custom dressmaker sewing instructor. Carla began sewing at an early age and received her first sewing machine at 8 years old.
Her parents, Rev. Clarence and MabelRobertson and her siblings, Michael, Reginald, Rhonda and Clarence Ii encouraged her in her dressmaking skills. At sixteen, she had her first paying customer. After 22 years of building her dressmaking business, she was inspired by a message from her pastor, Dr. Tony Evans, to pass on her God given gift to the next generation.
With the encouragement of family, friends and her church family, she launched Carla's Sewing School in 1999. The first year yielded 20- students, aged 7 to adult.
Carla has traveled with Buckner Orphan Care to Nairobi, Kenya and with Dream for Africa to South Africa to participate in Christian humanitarian aid missions.
Carla attended El Centro College and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Costume and Textile Design from Texas Woman's University, which has afforded her many opportunities to assist and support numerous community organizations, including the Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Drama and Dance ministries, Potters House youth dance ministry, the Black Academy of Arts and Letters, City of Farmers Branch Park and Recreation Dept. and many others.
Carla says she lives by these words from the book of Exodus:
"See the Lord has called my name. . . filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom and understanding, in knowledge and all manner of workmanship. . . to design artistic work in all manner of artistic workmanship. And He has put in his heart the ability to teach . . . He has filled him with skill to do all manner of work of the engraver and the designer and the tapestry maker. . . every gifted artisan in whom the Lord put wisdom and understanding, to know how to do all manner of work for the service of the sancturary shall do according to all that the Lord has commanded."
